I bought this skillet several months ago, but wanted to give it some time to see how it performed on a variety of foods before reviewing and I agree with those that write it's FANTASTIC! I've owned every brand of electric skillet available in this price range and this is the VERY BEST to date. Everything positive others have written is true - it is the largest, deepest, heaviest and most versatile electric skillet you're likely to find anywhere. The non-stick surface is EXCELLENT. I recommend you don't use spray such as Pam on non-stick cookware of any kind (I wish I had known that before I ruined my Calphalon non-stick pans!) Since learning manufacturers don't recommend the use of spray on non-stick pans, I have used canola oil on all my new pans whether non-stick or stainless steel and their surfaces seem to remain much the better for this change. I also don't put non-stick pans in the dishwasher or soak non-stick pans for any length of time in water or use metal utensils even when the manufacturer states you can because my experience has been that once a serious scratch is evident, even the best non-stick surface begins to deteriorate. I do believe this is the very best non-stick surface you're likely to find on any electric skillet of any brand. While it would be nice to have a vent in the lid, I don't cook with the lid on that often and I would rather have all of the other positives offered by this Presto Electric Skillet model 06852 than to trade down to other brands of electric skillets I've owned that had a vented lid and a lid holder built into the frame of the skillet but did not perform nearly as well. Amazon's price is about the best you're likely to find. I say "Go for it!"
